The IPSP

The Inter-departmental Postgraduate Studies Programme (IPSP/DPMS) organized by the Faculty of Engineering of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki involves the Schools of Architecture, Civil Engineering, Rural and Surveying Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Spatial Planning and Development Engineering, it started to function in the academic year 1998-99, after its foundation by Ministerial Decision approved by Parliament, published in the Gonvernment Gazette, vol. 329 of 3/4/98, entitled:
Protection, Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Monuments It was re-established according to decision no. 2958/12&13-4-2018 of the Meeting of the Senate of AUTH (Government Gazette 3274/08-08-2018, vol.B')

 

The IPSP awards:
a Postgraduate Diploma of Specialization in the Protection, Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Monuments
with two Specializations:
a) Protection, Conservation and Restoration of Architectural Monuments
b) Protection, Conservation and Restoration of Art Work and Mechanisms

The main characteristic of the Program is the multidisciplinarity in terms of the teachers, the learning objects and the approach to the problems.

The general aims of the IPSP are the promotion of knowledge in the specific subject, the development of research in relevant scientific areas, the meeting of the needs for administrative, technical and scientific staff at postgraduate level

The guiding philosophy of IPSP is to provide postgraduate students with a solid foundation, basic principles, knowledge and methods that will enable them to continuously train, improve and create an innovative spirit, by applying modern technologies. Based on this philosophy, the lecturers will use various methods that will include applied research, case studies, simulations with the help of computers, etc. Part of the educational process is the practical exercise of the students in the subjects of their specialization.

 

The obligation of all the operating factors of the IPSP is to ensure quality and continuous improvement in every activity and, above all, in the curriculum, in the educational process, in research and in the collaborations with respective Programs and Centers at home and abroad.

 

The duration of studies for the awarding of the postgraduate diploma specializing in the Protection, Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Monuments is three (3) academic semesters. The last semester is available for the development, writing and presentation of the Master's Thesis by the graduate student.
