DEFINITION AND LONG- TIME OBSERVATION OF THE DISFIGURATIONS AT HISTORICAL BUILDINGS AND THEIR SURROUNDINGS

The aim of the course

The aim of the course is to familiarize the students with the problems of the deformation of structures and monuments and give detailed information on the methods used for their measurement and identification so that proper repair procedures be studied and decided.

Educational objectives

The aim of the course is for the student to acquire the ability and knowledge to identify and locate the problem of deformations and to fully prepare a program to monitor the change over time
monument and/or the surrounding area.

P. Savvaidis, Introduction - Causes and effects of deformations in structural constructions and monuments - The organization of deformation measurements
P. Savvaidis, Deformation measurements: Markings, measurement instruments and methods, control networks
D. Rossikopoulos, Methods for calculation of deformations and evaluation of results, Correction of control networks Comparison of intertemporal network forms, identification of distortions
P. Savvaidis, Models of deformations - Typical examples of monitoring deformations in monuments, oscillations of structures, Case studies
