MODERN MATERIALS AND CONSERVATION TECHNIQUES
The purpose of the course is to provide modern knowledge about the materials (upgraded or new materials) used in the maintenance/restoration of monuments and historical buildings.
The objectives of the course are the development of selection criteria for the suitability of the materials available on the market to be used in restoration works, as well as the technologies used in these works.
How students participate:
Attending courses and Laboratory exercises
Students participate in a laboratory exercise in the synthesis, production and control of key properties of lime-based grouts, as well as the use of admixtures in the production of mortars/grouts. Worksheets are given and the measurements and answers to the questions are noted.
