THERMAL ANALYSIS, CALORIMETRY AND THERMAL AGING
Purpose of the Course: The development of modern methods of thermomechanical and calorimetric analysis of materials with an emphasis on the materials of the Conservator of works of art and cultural monuments as well as the pathology and aging of these materials.
Educational Objectives: The understanding of the principles of the methods and the organization of the techniques as well as the development of the ability to analyze the results of the measurements
Course Analysis: The subjects of the course are as follows:
The glass transition, melting and crystallization of polymeric materials. Effect of temperature on the mechanical properties of polymers. Thermal analysis. Scanning calorimetry and thermogravimetric analysis. Dynamic mechanical analysis methods. Laboratory exercises in the calorimetry of artwork materials.
