PREVENTIVE CONSERVATION
Purpose of the course:
The course aims to familiarize students with fundamental issues of preventive outdoor maintenance.
LICHENS AND ARCHAEOLOGICAL MONUMENTS
What are lichens and their effects on archaeological monuments. Colonization patterns of monuments. Monument biodeterioration by lichens (mechanical action, chemical action, discolorations, Pitting, Pedogenesis). Do lichens protect the monuments? Remediation of lichen damage: Mechanical means, Chemical means, Biological cleaning, Preventive conservation.
