Karagiannis Georgios

Dr. Georgios Karagiannis holds a PhD from the Department of Electrical, Mechanical and Computer Engineering of the University of Athens. He is the scientific and technical director of the Diagnostic Center of the "ORMYLIA" Foundation. He has been a scientific collaborator of the "ORMYLIA" Foundation since 1997. His research fields are related to Non-Destructive Testing techniques, Multispectral and Spectroscopic Imaging, Signal Processing and Knowledge Management as well as the optimal combination of the use of all the above methods in various scientific and industrial applications. Since 1998, he has been participating as a Coordinator as well as a key Participant in European Research and Development Programs as well as in corresponding industrial ones for the development of Non-Destructive Testing applications and their use in the diagnosis and documentation of works of art, biomedical methods of diagnosis, image and signal processing and management knowledge. He is a reviewer in several scientific journals. He has also been an evaluator at the European Commission in Research, Technology and Development programs. He participated as a member of technical and scientific committees in international conferences as well as the chairman of special thematic sessions in many of them. Since 1998 he has been teaching Conservation and Restoration of Works of Art at the postgraduate level of the Engineering Department of the Athens University of Applied Sciences. He has more than 20 publications in international scientific journals, more than 55 announcements in international scientific conferences and 17 lectures. He is the owner of two national and one international patent. He is a member of the Technical Chamber of Greece.
