Teaching activity

Organization, coordination, teaching of courses in the undergraduate and postgraduate study cycle of TIMMY, in the Master's Degree "IPSP Processes and Technology of Advanced Materials" of AUTH, in the Master's Degree "DPMS Protection, Maintenance & Restoration of Cultural Monuments - Second Direction (P.S.& A . Works of Art & Mechanisms)" of AUTH. Lectures at European universities in the context of intensive courses "Advanced materials" and "Advanced physics and chemistry of materials" of the Erasmus-Socrates program, 1996-2006, organization of the 8th European Intensive Course "Advanced physics and chemistry of materials" (AUTh 2004).

 

Academic activity

At THMMY, Director of the Electrotechnical Materials Laboratory (since 2004), Director of the Electricity Sector (2006-2008 & 2016-2019), Deputy President of the Department (2007-9), member of the Department's General Assembly (since 1991).

In the Interdepartmental Master's Program "Processes and Technology of Advanced Materials" of AUTh, Director of the Program (2006-2008 & 2014-2016, 2020-present), member of the Coordinating Committee (since 2005), member of the Special Interdepartmental Committee (since 1999 ). In the Interdepartmental Master's Program "Protection, Maintenance & Restoration of Cultural Monuments", member of the Coordinating Committee of the 2nd Direction (since 2006), member of the Special Interdepartmental Committee (2002-2019).

At AUTH, member of the Senate (1993-94) and (2006-7), member of the Electronic Government Committee (2010-15), member and president of the Large Interdepartmental Equipment Committee (2015-17 and 2017-2019).

 

Research activity

Research interests: mainly magnetic materials, oxides, intermetallic compounds and nanoparticles, and span diverse fields such as material synthesis and characterization, permanent magnets, hysteresis models, absorption of electromagnetic radiation and biomedical applications.

Supervision of dozens of undergraduate and postgraduate theses. Supervised five PhD theses. Scientific manager in three national competitive research programs and one transnational one, and participation in four other programs of the Greek Research Institute. Reviewer of papers in scientific journals and conferences, in doctoral theses at AUTH and abroad. Member of committees of national and international scientific conferences. Member of scientific associations (Magnetics Society IEEE, European Magnetism Association).
