Description: Spatial Planning with emphasis on organization and land use planning in metropolitan and supra-local scale. Urban transformations and metropolitan space. Networks and sprawl, flow and space. Interaction between land use and transport systems. Using quantitative methods to understand the interactions of land use and transport systems. Spatial development models, urban models, and integrated models of land use and transport. Planning ssupport systems for spatial/urban planning and decision making.

Teaching (Courses)

Εκπαιδευτική δραστηριότητα στο Τμήμα Μηχ. Χωροταξίας του Α.Π.Θ. (2006 έως και σήμερα) καθώς και στο αντίστοιχο τμήμα του Πανεπιστήμιου Θεσσαλίας (2006-2009). Ενδεικτικά αναφέρω τίτλους μαθημάτων: Εισαγωγή στο Χωρικό Σχεδιασμό, Πολεοδομικός Σχεδιασμός, Πόλη και Πολεοδομία, Πολεοδομικά Σχέδια και Μελέτες, Χωροταξικός Σχεδιασμός, Περιβαλλοντικός Χωρικός Σχεδιασμός, Στρατηγικός Σχεδιασμός Μητροπολιτικών Κέντρων και Περιφερειών.
Επίσης δίδαξα στο μεταπτυχιακό πρόγραμμα MSc in City Planning, University of Pennsylvania (2000-2005) στα εξής μαθήματα: Quantitative Analysis of Metropolitan Growth and Form, Introduction to City and Regional Planning. Past, Present and Future, Professional Studio-Planning Studio, Introduction to Geographical Information Systems.

Πρόσφατη ερευνητική δραστηριότητα

I have participated in several research projects in Greece and abroad mainly as a member of the research team but also as project leader. The last research program I participated as a team member was: Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Department of Planning and Development, "Investigation of alternative scenarios for the revitalisation of the Thessaloniki’s International Exhibition Center ", (Feb. 2013 - Aug. 2017)

Other Scientific Activities

Before my appointment as a faculty member with the Department of Planning and Development ( January 2013 - present) , I worked in both public bodies and the private sector in Greece and abroad, gaining significant experience through the following positions: Ministry of Macedonia and Thrace , Directorate General / Department of Environment and Infrastructure Department of Environment (June 2009 - December 2012), Research Associate for the Hellenic Parliament (February 2009- May 2009 ), Prefecture of Kilkis , Office of Urban Planning and Land Use (February 2006 - October 2008), SH Putman Associates, Delaware, USA (May 2002 - August 2005), Sasaki Associates, Boston, USA (July 2001 - September 2001), ARISTA Planning Consultants, Wynnewood, USA (May 2000 - June 2000), Food Trust, Philadelphia, USA (June 1999 - October 1999 ), EUROTEC Consulting group EUROCONSULTANTS SA (1996 - 1998). I also participated in many international conferences and architectural competitions. I am member of the Scientific Committee of the International Conference "Changing Cities": Spatial, morphological, formal & socio-economic dimensions, as well as reviewer of scientific papers in various conferences. Finally, I am a member of several professional and scientific bodies like Greek Association of Urban Regional Planners, International Society of City and Regional Planners (I.SO.CARP), American Planning Association (APA), European Regional Science Association (ERSA) etc.
